?? Would You Believe Real People Are Actually Finding Jobs Playing Pokémon Go

?? Would You Believe Real People Are Actually Finding Jobs Playing Pokémon Go 364 How the world's hottest mobile game is inspiring people to mix business with pleasure. Photo Credit: JD Hancock Pokémon Go has taken the world by storm since it was released in July 2016. In only a few weeks, it was installed on more devices than LinkedIn, and was being played more often than people use Facebook or Twitter. Is Pokémon Go on your smartphone right now? Yes No View Results Anything so popular is going to have an impact on people's lives, and even their careers. Employees have already been fired for playing while working, including dangerously while driving a public bus.eval Yeah, don't do that. On the flip side, here are some of the creative ways Pokémon Go players and fans have begun making a living from their favorite game, doing jobs that can be done remotely from anywhere in the world, even in countries where the game hasn't officially been released yet.eval Be in the game, not of the game 1) Account sellers British Law graduate Sophia Pedraza quit her job as a private tutor making US$2,600 monthly to play the game full-time. Her plan? “To accumulate multiple phones so she can level up a bunch of accounts and sell them on eBay for more than $1,300.” 2) Account builders Similarly, there are companies and regular people looking to hire freelancers to grow Pokémon accounts for them. They will literally pay you to play! In the UK, you can earn £40 (about US$53) per hour to catch monsters for your clients, or you can set up shop on freelance marketplaces by offering to catch Pokémon for an hourly or fixed fee, such as on PeoplePerHour. In India, a company is looking to hire a full-time ‘official Pokémon catcher' with a monthly starting salary of ?25,000 (about US$373). 3) Coaches https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCtSiC5v_Xs New Zealand barista and bartender Dave Currie quit his job to take a Pokémon Go vacation, touring his country while hunting for monsters to catch. He's not the only one either. He did so well that a few days after the above YouTube clip was posted, he received a job offer: “a gaming company in the US has offered me a job to be a professional Pokémon Go coach, which would entail me doing Skype calls with players from all over the world who wish to get tips from me and get ahead.” Okay, be of the game too What if you love the game but don't want to make a career out of it? While you can network with other trainers at PokéStops and Gyms, the chances of that leading to a job aren't very high. However, many people are using their non-gaming skills for jobs that are related to the game, its players and culture. For example, drivers, joggers and anyone always on the move are offering egg-hatching services, such as this bike rickshaw service in Zurich. (hat tip to Etienne Besson) On Fiverr, sellers are offering to photoshop or draw you as a Pokémon trainer and sell you Pokémon Go tip guides. On Craigslist, people are offering to drive or SAIL you around while you play, take you to places where specific monsters tend to be found, or run a Pokémon Go-themed party for you. On Upwork, freelancers will do Pokémon Go-related designs, write related articles, even create related mobile apps. A few dedicated Pokémon Go marketplaces have sprung up, such as Pokemondo and in the Sythe forums, where you can sell and buy services like the ones above and more. Then there's this: How Pokémon Go is impacting recruiting and job search in other ways The game's creator Niantic is also looking to hire thanks to the game's popularity: In India, Microsoft is using the game to recruit developers: The US Navy is getting in on the act: Job seekers are mentioning the game in interviews: Around the world, there's even a growing stereotype that Pokémon Go players are all unemployed slackers: But I completely agree with this: More reads about Pokémon Go in recruiting HRToday in Switzerland asks what Pokémon Go will bring to recruiting? (German) Question of the article Have you ever been tempted to quit your job to play a game, travel or follow some other passion? Tell us in the comments.

Eleven Essential Financial Tips That Every Woman Should Know -

Eleven Essential Financial Tips That Every Woman Should Know - Managing your finances in a responsible way is an essential life skill. From sorting out your bills to understanding your credit report, all women should have the knowledge to be financially independent and take care of their own money. Learn how to budget, save and spend effectively to stay independent and financially ready for anything.   Heres eleven financial tips to get you started and keep you going.  Set a budget. Whatever your income, a budget will help you to manage your money. Sit down and work out exactly how much money you have coming in every month. This should include your wages, any benefits, and any income from side jobs, investments, pensions or allowances. Now work out how much goes out. Include the rent or mortgage, utilities, bills and the average amount you spend on food and transport. What you have left you can save or spend. This is your budget. Have an emergency fund. Aim to have three to six month of expenses in a savings account. This is your emergency money. If you lose your job, this is a safety net to tide you over and keep the bills paid until you can find another job.it can also cover you in case you need to move out of your home in a hurry after a break-up with a partner or a housemate turning nasty. Understand credit. A credit card is never just free money. It can be a useful way to build your credit rating and pay for unexpected expenses, but be sure to always be responsible. Failking to make payments of borrowing more than you can afford can lead to a damaged credit score and a spiral of debt you can’t handle. Read a guide to credit cards before applying for them. Check your credit report. Get in the habit of checking your credit report a couple of times a year. Check it thoroughly for any errors, such as an incorrect address or a debt you have now cleared. Arrange to have any errors corrected immediately as these could be damaging your credit rating unnecessarily. If your rating is poor, look at why and aim to fix it. Do you have several credit cards? Do you move around a lot? Are you not registered to vote? All these things can hurt your rating. Look through your report for anything you can improve. Don’t rely on someone else for all your financial needs Whether that’s a parent, a husband or a girlfriend. Pooling your finds for a joint home is one thing, but it’s important to maintain some financial freedom. You don’t want to be stuck in a bad relationship that you can’t afford to leave or unable to manage your own money without your parents help. Be sensible with your money. Of course you can buy treats yourself, but don’t fall into the habit of buying things to fix a bad day or a stressful mood. This can lead to emotional shopping, overspending and a lot of credit card debt. If you must have something, buy small treats like a takeaway coffee or a bar of chocolate, instead of always heading to the shops for a new handbag after a bad week in the office. Be wary of a partner’s debt. If you’re considering marrying your partner, but one has debt, consider waiting until the debt has been cleared. If you marry when one of your owes money, you both become responsible for it and it will have an impact on both credit ratings. Can’t wait?   Protect yourself before marriage with a prenuptial agreement. It’s not romantic but it will protect your money should you ever get divorced. Anyone can use a prenup, not just rich couples. Always have insurance. Insure your home, your belongings, valuable possessions like electronics, your car and maybe even your health. Insurance can save you from huge bills to repair your home or car, replacing a lost phone, replacing stolen valuables or paying medical bills. Shop around the best coverage you can afford and be sure to always read the fine print so you know exactly what you’re covered for and can claim if some disaster befalls you. You could consider life insurance too, if you’re a parent or have other dependents. Make a will. Nobody wants to think about their own death, but without a will, there’s no guide left for your estate and the courts will decide who gets your money and other assets. With a will, you can lay out clearly who should get money, property, other assets and even custody of your children. Be proactive and get it done, especially if you have a partner or children. Learn from your mistakes. We all make errors with our money at times, from poor investments to overspending. If you make a mistake, acknowledge it and learn from it. Don’t bear yourself up and instead use it to think about you can avoid making a similar mistake in the future. By making mistakes, we learn, and you’ll be more money savvy even after a few stumbles along the way. You can learn from the mistakes of others too. For example, if you know your mother has high credit card debt, or your brother lost a lot of money gambling, you can learn their hard lessons without making the mistake for yourself. Learn what you truly value. If you’re prone to making impulse purchases, think hard about what truly makes you happy and how you want your future to look. If what makes you happy is a pair of designer shoes, then the investment might be worth it. However,   if you picture the future in a house on the beach, maybe that money would be better used by being put into your savings for a house deposit, not spent on a pair of shoes. Weigh up large purchases like this to work out what it is that really want. You may just find you end up spending a lot less money, and find budgeting a lot easier.

Does My Boss Have It in for Me - CareerAlley

Does My Boss Have It in for Me - CareerAlley We may receive compensation when you click on links to products from our partners. If you have been feeling individually prosecuted by your boss, either from what seems like cruel criticism or getting no attention whatsoever, it may be time to end the business relationship. However before jumping to conclusions, you should first look for the common signs that your boss might have it in for you. If you notice these signs, look for ways to improve the business relationship before losing your job. Being Assigned Unimportant Tasks You may have noticed most of the tasks you are being assigned arent related to your main position or are menial, unimportant tasks. Look at how often you are being assigned these types of duties compared to others with the same position as you. If you are not doing the same job you were originally hired for but instead are constantly asked to do minor, useless tasks, there might be a problem with your boss. Lack of Communication This is often the first sign that your boss might not be pleased with you or your performance. If instead of giving you attention, they are ignoring your calls or emails and being overly inaccessible, it is a good sign they have it out for you. This usually means they have crossed over into not being all too interested in you and the job youre doing. Exclusion from Meetings or Activities Are you noticing secret meetings or social activities between your boss and co-workers that you are never invited to? This may bring up feelings of rejection in the workplace and is something worth exploring. Take this with a grain of salt, as there may be a perfectly reasonable explanation, such as the meeting not relating to the job you have. But if it happening more often than not, it may be a sign to consider. Youre Being Micro-Managed Micro managing means your boss or supervisor is scheduling every little task and duty you are assigned throughout the day. They never seem to leave you be, as if they dont trust you to handle the job on your own. While micromanaging on its own isnt a sign your boss is wanting you to quit or fire you, it may be a sign theyre not pleased with your performance So you should think if this is added to any of the other common signs hat there is a problem in the workplace. Ignored or Criticized During Meetings The last sign has to do with the meetings you do attend. One of two things may be happening: you are either criticized more often or more harshly than your co-workers, or ignored entirely. If your boss is taking input and they insult your or dont listen to you, it is a sign. If these sound familiar in your daily work life, it might be time to either confront your boss about the problems or find a new job. Jumping to conclusions never ends up well, and there could be a reasonable explanation for their behavior. Speaking to them should always be the first course of action.
